Lion,-----, and Bears, Oh Bye

This is a project for my graphic design class, an environmental issue. I picked "extinct in the wild" animals, so they still exist just in zoos and private habitats, but not in the wild. I like the way it turned out, but I came to the conclusion while I was working on this and talking to the other graphic designers in the class, that I think I am more of an illustrator than a graphic design. Mostly because graphic designers don't like to draw! So Huntsman and I made fun of them for a little bit, and I think that illustration is the way to go.

Cool. That's an interesting decision, I guess I wasn't sure which way you were going to swing. It makes sense because so much of your stuff is drawing based. Great picture man. I like the busy-ness behind the absence.

I'm still unsure which way you're going to swing though.

I know what way Allen swings...

Also, this is a really great illustration. I am glad that you changed the tiger outline. This one is much more understandable and readable and it looks cooler as well. And you can do design and illustration. Don't let them put a label on you, just do artwork and have fun.

I like this becuase it's the presence of absence. Yeah, wrap your mind around that.
I really do like it, because of the power of the starkness amidst so much.

Hey, this turned out really well. I said so to Mike and he said "Yes. I know. That is the sign of a good illustrator that he can take art direction and make it really good." Maybe he was taking credit for your good work? Did you really decide on putting an illustration portfolio together then?
